Why a New YMCA

A vibrant and growing community needs a place to gather, a place to learn, a place where children and families can come together in a spirit of friendship and wellness. The “Building Our New Y” Campaign is dedicated to raising the funds for our new YMCA that will serve the needs of all Chatham-Kent residents with state-of-the-art wellness facilities and innovative, accessible programs and services.

After more than 50 years serving Chatham-Kent families, the King Street building was no longer able to meet the needs of our growing community. The YMCA needed to renew its anchor facility in order to continue helping children and families in Chatham-Kent reach their full potential.

The new building offers all of the facilities traditionally expected of the Y, while also allows us to reach out to Chatham-Kent residents with exciting new programming. Day camps, meeting space, employment programs and many other resources are available to all residents in our community. We are committed to making our community stronger and healthier. Our new building helps us continue to make a difference in the lives of Chatham-Kent residents.
